Feeding Birds can be both entertaining and relaxing, and it's not too bad for the birds either. They appreciate the healthy protein filled food they recieve. Here are some varieties of seed and what particular species of birds they attract.
Black Oil Sunflower Seeds: This is the most popular seed among a wide range of birds. Both small and large birds can crack these seeds open. It is also a good source of energy and protein.

Striped Sunflower Seeds: These seeds will attract large birds such as Blue Jays, Woodpeckers, Grosbeaks, Tufted Titmice and Cardinals.

Thistle: This seed rich in oil and protein will attract Goldfinches and small songbirds.

Millet: this seed is a good source of vitamins and minerals. It is loved by smaller birds because of it's small texture.

Cracked Corn: This seed is consumed quickly by a large variety of songbirds.

Safflower: This seed is loved by Cardinals, but bitter enough that squirrels won't eat it.

Peanuts: this seed will attract Blue Jays, Woodpeckers, Nuthatches and many other birds.
