"Selecting the proper cutting tool for your DIY Project."

  • For easier drilling in the very hardest of masonry materials: granite, slate, stone, use a “Glass & Tile” drill instead of a standard masonry drill.

  • Install two hacksaw blades with teeth facing opposite directions so that you can cut on the forward and reverse stroke.

  • Heat generated when sawing drives the pitch out of the wood.  Clean the pitch off your circular saw blade with standard oven cleaner.

  • For cutting hardened steel use a High Speed Steel drill bit with”Split Point geometry”.  The Split Point will cut faster, with less resistance and less
    heat build up.

  • Your reciprocating saw is excellent for pruning bushes and small trees.  Use a course tooth blade of 6T (six teeth per inch) or a special pruning blade.

  • To select the right saw blade for the job, use the 3-tooth rule:  “Three teeth should come in contact with the material being cut.”  As example thin wall tubing use 24T jig saw or hacksaw blade.  For Plywood use a blade with 6T to 10T.
