Organize your home this winter season.
(Scroll down to view tip)
A great area to start in your home organization project is the bedroom.
Ask yourself:
What takes up the most space in my bedroom? - not including the furniture. For most of us it is the many articles of clothing that we have collected throughout the years.
Clothing organization - Take inventory.
Remove the articles of clothing in your closets and drawers and divide them into groups.
Group 1: Clothing that is not being used – usually something you have not worn in a year or two – these can go into clean plastic bags and donated to your local charity. This will free up a lot of space so you can begin working on your project.
Group 2: Clothing to be kept – divide this group into types:
Type 1: Winter Clothing - For this season you will want to keep clothing where they are most readily available, such as your closet, drawers etc.
Type 2: Spring Clothing - Since this clothing will not be used until spring in most cases, they can be stored in a number of ways.
- Use Large plastic totes such as the Sterilite® 18-gallon tote, Latch boxes, Hinged lid boxes etc. These plastic storage containers will keep things sealed and moisture free for the duration of the season.
If you are storing any clothing in your basement this an added bonus in case you have a small basement flood your clothing will still remain dry.
- Other clothing you may want to keep can be stored away in a under bed storage container such as ACO Hardware's Sterilite® Under bed containers. Most are transparent and in many cases on easy slide rollers. Hanging clothes in a basement is also a good idea as long as you make sure whatever is in long time storage to have a hanging Damp Rid® dehumidifier in the closet with your clothing. This will help keep any moisture away from the clothing you wish to keep
in storage.
ACO Hardware carries all the things you need to start organizing your home this season.
You will always find a great selection of different Sterilite® products at great prices.
